BEC GRIFFITHS

The Marketer first, artist second

Let’s talk marketing. REAL marketing, the marketing that helps pay the bills kind of marketing. There’s a big difference between understanding how Instagram and Facebook work, and understanding what thriving marketing for sustainable, diverse business requires. Bec, with 20 years of marketing experience helping tons of brands and businesses be profitable (did you know you can make a lot of money and still not be profitable???)  understands this difference intimately.

Most recently employed as an executive of marketing in a global company and as an impressive artist in her own right, Bec’s expertise is the exact bridge between art and business you want to learn from. Her marketing resume is full of big words and impressive awards but the most important thing is this - Bec’s number one gift is an unnerving ability to help you unpack a problem, lay all the pieces out so you really see them for the first time then guide you to reassemble them in a new way that just makes sense —she's the “kintsugi” master of business strategy.

In other words she knows how to help you put money in the bank without making you feel you are betraying your artist’s heart. Bec lives with her husband and two children in Melbourne, Australia.

YAN PALMER

The Artist first, marketer second

Yan Palmer is a world renowned film photographer, educator and public speaker. With the heart and eyes of a poet, and spirit of mystic, she has spent the majority of her career traveling far and wide---not only making art for her clients, but teaching other artists to do the same.

Yan has set herself apart in the world of education with her unique philosophy that  teaching artists to become more like her is useless. Instead she has focused on helping artists tap into their greatest power---becoming more themselves.

As a single mother of three children, Yan has boot strapped her business from the ground up. Not marketing was not an option. What's more, she did so with rigorous artistic integrity, and a passionate dedication to making work and products aligned with the meaning she wants to add to the world; that you, your work, and the art of your life are infinitely valuable. Yan lives with her three children in Provo, Utah.

Yan & Becs Meet Cute

Once upon a time a marketing executive with an artist heart, living in Australia caught word of a traveling artist photographer from the US on her way to town to teach a workshop. Inspired to spread her artistic wings the marketer threw caution to the wind and “What the hell? I need a break from my busy day job” signed up. She got more than she bargained for, as she spent the day blasted with philosophy on just how art, self understanding, and truth telling are the most potent building blocks of any creative business. She also politely observed this wild artist’s….let’s see, how do we say this kindly….not so business-y way of doing business. [Translation, while the artist’s passion and art made her “successful,” she was flying by the seat of her pants, and bleeding money while doing so.]

Fast forward a couple years, and a whole lot of shared learning later--the marketer knows a lot more about art, the artist has learned a lot more about sustainable business, and the two realized they can combine forces to fix a big hole in the “struggling artist world.” With a shared mission to put money in artist’s pockets in a way that furthers creativity and nurtures meaning driven selves, Naked Marketing School was born.
